For Pet Owners

For Pet Owners: How do I get referred?

We offer a full range of orthopedic services including investigation of lameness, fracture repair, arthroscopy, and joint surgery.  If you and your primary care vet feel that your pet has a condition which is beyond the scope or expertise of what can reasonably be achieved in general practice, then a referral is appropriate.

A referral can only be made by your primary care vet, who will provide us with all the medical information we require in order to treat your pet and discuss the possible solutions with you when an appointment has been made.

If you are coming to see us with your pet for an orthopedic referral appointment, please follow the instructions below.  If you have any questions prior to coming to see us please feel free to call Dr. Levy (519) 599-1245.

  • Please do not feed your pet any food from 10pm the night before your appointment (they may have water up to 2 hours before we see you).  There is a possibility your pet may be sedated for x-rays or other investigations during the day of your appointment.  This will be discussed at the time of your appointment.
  • Ensure your animal is clean and free of dirt/sand on his/her coat.  Sand/dirt can alter x-ray images and increase the risk of infection post-operatively.
  • Please ensure ample time is given for your journey to the clinic, particularly during the winter.  Directions are included below.
  • We respectfully request that payment for treatment is made in full at the the time of collection of your pet.  An estimate of costs will be given during the consultation. Visa and Mastercard are accepted.  If your animal is insured our protocol is for you to pay us and then claim the money from your insurance company.  Please bring your completed insurance form with you and we will fill in the veterinary section of the form so it will be ready to be forwarded to your insurance company as quickly as possible.
